El trabajo analiza la idea de "deber de asistencia" dentro del contexto de "justice as fairness", tal como ésta aparece en The Law of People de John Rawls. A propósito de esta idea se exponen las razones que tuvo Rawls para descartar en el dominio internacional la aplicación de un principio de justicia distributiva y redistributiva global. A continuación se exponen resumidamente dos propuestas alternativas a la de Rawls pero inscritas en su propia teoría: las teorías de Charles Beitz y Thomas Pogge. Finalmente, se inquiere sobre la suficiencia de la idea de deber de asistencia como principio de justicia global.

Translated abstract

This work analyses the idea of "duty of assistance" in the context of "justice as fairness", as contained in The Law of People by John Rawls. Regarding this idea, the reasons for Rawls to discard the application of a principle of global distributive and redistributive justice in the international scope are developed. Then, two alternative proposals to Rawls’ are briefly set out, but which are consistent with his theory: the theories of Charles Beitz and Thomas Pogge. Finally, this work enquires into the sufficiency of the idea of the duty of assistance as a principle of global justice.
