Funding
The Gorongosa Project funded all of the post-2002 aerial surveys in terms of aircraft/helicopter
hire, pilot and external observers (M Peel 2014 – 2018 counts). The salaries of M
Stalmans (2012 – 2018 counts) and T Massad (2014 and 2018 counts) were paid by the
Gorongosa Project. R Pringle has received funding from the Greg Carr Foundation, although
not tied to this research. The funders had no role in study design, data collection
and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.
