          Abstract

          RESUMO O estudo teve como objetivo identificar as fontes de conhecimentos determinantes na estruturação do processo de treino de 20 treinadores paranaenses de basquetebol, considerando a titulação acadêmica, o nível competitivo e o tempo de experiência profissional. A partir do instrumento proposto por Feu et al (2012) identificou-se as fontes de conhecimento dos treinadores nas dimensões: Formação Acadêmica, Experiência de Atleta e a Experiência Profissional. Na análise dos dados utilizou-se da estatística descritiva inferencial e inferência, em nível de significância de p≤ 0,05. A maioria dos treinadores adota as fontes de conhecimentos procedentes da formação acadêmica (8.34±1.25) e experiência profissional (7.63±1.87) na construção do processo de treino, quanto maior era a titulação acadêmica do treinador, menor utilização de conhecimentos da experiência profissional. Apesar das limitações do estudo, concluímos que as fontes de conhecimentos procedentes da formação acadêmica são as mais utilizadas para o exercício profissional dos treinadores de basquetebol do Paraná.

          RESUMEN El estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar las fuentes de conocimientos determinantes en la estructuración del proceso de entrenamiento de 20 entrenadores paranaenses de baloncesto, considerando la titulación académica, el nivel competitivo y el tiempo de experiencia profesional. A partir del instrumento propuesto por Feu et al (2012) se identificaron las fuentes de conocimiento de los entrenadores en las dimensiones: Formación Académica, Experiencia de Atleta y la Experiencia Profesional. En el análisis de los datos se utilizó la estadística descriptiva inferencial y inferencia, nivel de significancia de p 0,05. La mayoría de los entrenadores adopta las fuentes de conocimientos procedentes de la formación académica (8.34 1.25) y experiencia profesional (7.63 1.87) en la construcción del proceso de entrenamiento, cuanto mayor sea la titulación académica del entrenador, menor utilización de conocimientos de la experiencia profesional. Concluimos que las fuentes de conocimientos procedentes de la formación académica son las más utilizadas para el ejercicio profesional de los entrenadores de baloncesto de Paraná.

          ABSTRACT Abstract: The study aimed to identify the sources of decisive knowledge in the structuring of the training process of 20 basketball coaches from Paraná, considering the academic degree, the competitive level and the time of professional experience. Based on the instrument proposed by Feu et al (2012), the sources of knowledge of the coaches were identified in the dimensions: Academic Education, Athlete Experience and Professional Experience. In the analysis of the data, inferential and inference descriptive statistics were used, with a significance level of p≤0.05. Most coaches adopt the sources of knowledge from academic training (8.34±1.25) and professional experience (7.63±1.87) in the construction of the training process, the higher the coach's academic degree, the less use of knowledge from professional experience. Despite the limitations of the study, we conclude that the sources of knowledge from academic training are the most used for the professional practice of basketball coaches in Paraná.

            An Integrative Definition of Coaching Effectiveness and Expertise

              The coaching schematic: validation through expert coach consensus.

              Current research in coaching development infers that coaching is predominantly a decision-making process. The same and other research is not, however, informing the coaching development process due to a lack of a big picture approach. Consequently, there is a need for a model of coaching. In this paper, we offer such a model in the form of a schematic that reflects the coaching process from both a content and information-processing stance. To assess the validity of the schematic, 16 expert coaches were interviewed to elicit a complete description of their coaching process. The coaches were then shown a copy of the schematic and asked to comment on its design and content with respect to its accuracy in reflecting their coaching process. Following analysis of the interview, six general categories emerged: Roles, Goals, Typical Actions, Required Knowledge, Support for the Schematic, and Factors Influencing Development. The first four categories clearly displayed an implicit support for the schematic. Furthermore, all coaches offered explicit support for the schematic. Such strong support confirmed that the schematic was valid and could form the basis of focused interventions in coaching development.
