La idea de comunidad ocupó un lugar relevante en la reflexión de los clásicos de la sociología. Para Marx, Tönnies, Weber, Durkheim, Simmel y otros significó una herramienta de análisis y descripción, o de crítica y superación, de la sociedad moderna.
