          Abstract

Following concerted efforts for decades, great successes have been achieved in schistosomiasis control in China. Currently, the country is moving towards the progress of schistosomiasis elimination. However, there are many challenges for the national schistosomiasis elimination program in China, including the management of source of Schistosoma japonicum infections, control of the intermediate snail hosts, improvement of capability building and imported schistosomiasis. In order to achieve the goal of schistosomiasis elimination in China on schedule, we need to solve these difficulties and respond to these challenges efficiently, and require the precision identification of the risk factors for schistosomiasis transmission, followed by the implementation of precision interventions targeting these risk factors, and finally, the immediate adjustment of the control strategy based on the precision assessment. More importantly, the transfer of the experiences and products from the national schistosomiasis elimination program of China will make a great contribution to the global schistosomiasis elimination program.
