          Abstract

There are many similarities in molecular and epidemic characteristics of Zika virus (ZIKV) and dengue virus (DENV) and many researchers have taken studies on DENV-induced epidemics as references to construct prediction model for ZIKV epidemic. Comprehensive comparisons on similarities and differences in hosts, transmission routes, and susceptible populations between ZIKV and DENV are important for exploring the relationship of the two types of virus. We reviewed relevant studies on the two virus and analyzed the prevalence of ZIKV and DENV epidemics in Guangdong province for providing evidences for prevention and control of ZIKV epidemic
