          Abstract

          Visual evoked cortical potentials (VECPs) recorded in patients with pigmentary dystrophy of the retina show a wide range of amplitudes when stimulation with sine wave modulated light at different frequencies is applied. The scotopic VECP is measurable in the absence of any recordable ERG. The reduction of VECP amplitude in the late stages of the disease allows a preoperative evaluation of patients suffering from pigmentary dystrophy in combination with a cataract or a keratoconus.
