          Abstract

          Translated abstract

This article is proposed to recapture the place as a theoretical methodological and alternative concept for the knowledge of social current processes characterized by resurgence without precedent of local issue. In this purpose, is described how in the urban area of the Federal District remain some places with a strong presence of traditional agriculture, as it happens at Milpa Alta Delegation, which is characterized by owning a possession of communal land regimen which, because of different circumstances, is the same from its foundation about fve centuries ago. This peculiarity has its result on a cultural identity that has always defended land, forests and environment, against a more and more aggressive urbanization that tries to impose itself at any price on every place as occurs in Milpa Alta.
