The morphological structures of the mouthparts of females of Wilhelmia lineata Meigen 1804, while feeding through an artificial silicone membrane, are described and shown by SEM micrographs: The labrum does not only stretch the membrane but also opens the injection hole pierced by the mandibulae, deeply penetrating through the membrane. The labrum is not flexed on the membrane surface as expected from observations of in vivo feeding. The mouthparts are documented from the inner side of the membrane while penetrating through.
