          Abstract

          The concentrations of Na<sup>+</sup>, K<sup>+</sup> and calcium as well as the water content in whole bovine lenses from 0.25 up to 0 25 years were determined. The data given in μmol/total lens or in μmol/g lens water show a linear increase with ageing for K<sup>+</sup>, Na<sup>+</sup> and Ca<sup>++</sup> ions.
