Abstract

Resumen La actividad del interno de la carrera de medicina, se considera como una práctica pre profesional, su desarrollo se da en un contexto "real", lo que significa que los estudiantes del sexto año efectúan su capacitación con pacientes verdaderos. Durante este periodo los internos continúan adquiriendo conocimientos, y ganando experiencia. El objetivo de la investigación fue el identificar las características sobre el nivel cognitivo y desempeño de los internos de la carrera de medicina de la UMSA, en la gestión 2015. El diseñó propuesto fue una investigación cuantitativa, observacional, longitudinal y analítica. La metodología empleada contemplo dos situaciones para el acopio de la información, en la primera fase, se procedió al seguimiento durante el año 2015, a 8 estudiantes, se revisó 64 expedientes clínicos, 8 por interno en las pasantías de Medicina, Pediatría, Cirugía, Ginecología - Obstetricia. La calificación de historia clínica aceptable, correspondió al 31,25 %, lo que significa que 1 de cada 3 Historia Clínica. eran apropiadas. La segunda parte de la investigación, fue la toma de una prueba escrita de selección múltiple, de 100 preguntas, correspondiendo 20 interrogantes para cada una de las especialidades: Medicina, Cirugía, Pediatría, Ginecología - Obstetricia y Salud Publica, participaron 137 Internos de un total de 256. Solo el 7,3 % aprobaron la prueba (10 de 137), lo que significaría que uno de cada 10 participantes aprobó el examen. La investigación presentada, cumple su objetivo, puesto que logra identificar y poner de manifiesto la presencia de una brecha muy marcada entre el propósito ideal buscado por el plan de estudios de la carrera y el producto final del profesional logrado al culminar la carrera.

Abstract The activities carried out by a medical intern are considered a pre-professional practice. They are developed in a "real" context, that is to say, students in their sixth year complete their training with real patients. During this period, the interns continue to gain both knowledge and experience. The research aimed to identify the characteristics related to the cognitive and performance levels, of the interns belonging to the Medical School at UMSA during the year 2015. The proposed design was quantitative, longitudinal observational, and analytical research. The applied methodology included two moments during the information collection process: in the first phase of the research, 8 students were monitored during 2015 and 64 clinical records were reviewed; 8 records per intern in their Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology internship programs. The rating on an acceptable medical history corresponded to an only 31.25%, in others words, 1 out of 3 medical histories were appropriate. The second part of the investigation involved a written test of 100 multiple-choice questions: 20 questions of them linked to a certain specialty e.g. Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Gynecology - Obstetrics and Public Health. 137 interns out of 256 took part in the test. Only 7.3% passed the test (10 out of 137), which would mean that only 1 out of the 10 participants passed the exam. Therefore, the proposed research met its objective, since it managed to identify and highlight the presence of a very marked gap between the ideal purposes sought by the Medical School curriculum and the professional's end product achieved at the medical career.
