          Abstract

          This article focuses on parents’ awareness about the prevention of overweight and obesity in children and its’ use in the everyday life of respondents. Here an important role is played by a General Practitioner for Children and Adolescents, where the General Practitioner and his Nurse help to educate parents about the issues, risks and prevention of overweight and obesity. By identifying problematic areas in the prevention of overweight and obesity in children, the negative consequences of the family’s lifestyle and thus the lifestyle of the child can be minimized in the future.
