            Abstract

            A discussion organised by Noureddine Abdi, Algerian socialist, with Samir Amin, Egyptian economist and author of numerous works on the Third World, Paul Vieille, French sociologist and director of the monthly Peuples Mediterraneans,to which he also contributes, and Amin Maalouf, Lebanese writer and journalist (An‐Nahar Araband An‐Nahar International,as well as Jeune Afrique),together with contributions from Maged Nehme, a Syrian writer and Alya Souirys, from Tunisia.
