            Abstract

            The economic crisis has reduced the amount of medical aid from the first to the third world, but a profusion of private, voluntary, and non‐governmental organisations has stepped into the breach. What is the impact of NGO activities on the health of Africans, and what is the relation of NGO expansion to the economic crisis? A correspondent in Paris gives her analysis.
