            Abstract

As part of the 2018 Walter Rodney Symposium, Dr. Ewart Thomas, a close childhood and lifelong friend of Walter Rodney and Stanford University professor emeritus, was in attendance to deliver a plenary lecture during a long weekend of events. During his visit to Atlanta, a local graduate student who had been working with the Walter Rodney Foundation Symposium Planning Committee identified her skills in communications and journalism and an upcoming class assignment to do an interview. With the help of the planning committee, its chair and co-chair, Carolyn Walcott was able to arrange an interview with Dr. Thomas, which was part of her final course assignment, and is shared here with only lightly editing.
