            Abstract

This article addresses the axiological dimension of the political-legal thinking of José Martí, whose work became one of the principal instances of discursive legitimisation within the Cuban public square of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Its inclusive nature stands out for its construction based on multicultural philosophical points of reference. The discourse successfully established the need for a radical change in Cuban reality at the end of the nineteenth century, in search of an institutional framework that would guarantee the ‘full dignity of man’ rooted in the attainment of the values of justice, equality, solidarity and freedom.
