The World Marxian Economics Award 2021 was granted to Bing Ding and Guglielmo Carchedi for their contributions to the development of economics and the progress of the human race.
Bing Ding is a Professor at the School of Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business, China. His research areas include China’s economy, Western economics, and the comparative study of Marxist and Western economics. He has authored Bing Ding Self-Selected Works (2020), Chief History of Marxist Political Economics (with Shitai Wu, 1983), Principles of Contemporary Western Economics (1988; seventh edition, 2019), Contemporary Schools of Western Economics (1993), Theories of Modern Western Economics (1995), Research on Market Economy of Capitalist Countries (1999), and Research on Hot Topics of China’s Economy (2010).
Guglielmo Carchedi is a Professor Emeritus at the Department of Economics and Econometrics, University of Amsterdam. His research interests include Marxist economics, Marxist sociology, and Marxist epistemology. He is the author of many articles and books, including On the Economic Identification of Social Classes (Routledge, 1977), For Another Europe (Verso, 2001), Behind the Crisis (Haymarket, 2012), and The World in Crisis (with Michael Roberts, Haymarket Books, 2018).
