            Abstract

In order to undertake a series of case studies aimed at investigating systematic literature reviews, we have developed a case study protocol template. This paper introduces the template and discusses our experiences of using the template and the resulting case study protocol. We suggest that using our template to prepare a protocol and using the protocol for case study planning can improve the rigour of software engineering case studies.
