            Abstract

            SUMMARY

Goals: The purpose of this study was to establish an indirect intermittent protocol for basketball players and to generate an equation to predict VO2max. (ml/kg/min).

Materials and methods; 30 participants from the Valdivia basketball sports club were selected. Age 15.90 ± 1.5. Weight (kg). 71.61 ± 12.3. Height (cm) 178 ± 0.08. % Fat 17.63 ± 2.5. % Muscle mass 41.43 ± 2.2. VO2 (ml/kg/min). 57.37 ± 5.2. Two tests were performed, the first, in the laboratory the direct VO2max was calculated, the test started at 6 km/h, for 1 min. With 1° inclination. With speed increments of 7 km/h. Until fatigue. With the analysis of the variables obtained, a multiple linear regression was performed, obtaining the following regression model (37,262 + -0,172 * weight + 1,901 * speed), p-value 0.003. Said equation was used in the second test to predict the VO2max. (ml/kg/min). With the proposed measurement protocol, level 1. Starting at 6 km/h. With increases of 1 km/h, duration of 1 min. Distance of 15m. 5 second breaks. Between speed series, until reaching fatigue.

Results; The student’s t test for paired samples determined a mean of the differences of 0.26667, 95% CI. (-1.3082-1.8416). Standard deviation 4.2176. p-value >0.732, (SEE) 3.0. Bias close to zero 0.267 ml/Kg/min, in Bland-Altman, with limits of agreement of (-1.31 – 1.84).

Conclusions: The results show that the test has a high reliability and validity to evaluate the Vo2max (ml/kg/min). In basketball players.

(-1.3082-1.8416). Desviación estándar 4.2176. p-valor >0.732, (SEE) 3.0.
