COMPARING METHODS PROPOSED FOR GROUNDWATER RECOVERY TEST

            Abstract

Previously, available techniques were limited to determining the Transmissivity and storage coefficient solely during the pumping period or under specific conditions. However, numerous methods have since been introduced to estimate the transmissivity and storage coefficient based on recovery data obtained after the cessation of pumping in an aquifer test. The motivation behind this investigation was to compare the effectiveness of various methods proposed by different researchers (Theis 59, Balluraya and Sharma 1991, Li Zheng, Jain-Qing, Yuping 2005, Chenaf. D. and Robert P.Chapuis 2002, Olivier B. and Lumony M.Bangoy 1996, Sushil K. Singh 2003, Nozar Samani & M.Pasandi 2003) for estimating the storativity and transmissivity from recovery tests. To assess the applicability of these methods, we employed them to estimate the Transmissivity and storage coefficient using data from (Todd 1980, p 134) and (Groundwater Manual, 1981. p117). Our objective was to find a solution to the various equations proposed by different researchers. Each equation was examined individually, and the variables were graphed in separate Excel files, which were attached to the report.
