The growing complexity of the architectural design process and the need for architects to respond to the growing needs of building users have led to the adoption of computational design in architecture. Algorithmic design leverages computational design processes to automate, optimize, and simulate various aspects of architectural design. The research aims to examine the influence of algorithmic design on energy efficiency and sustainability and its contribution to the architectural design process. Data was collected through an in-depth review of literatures and the use of case studies, with the selection of buildings limited to certain criteria and searches carried out on Google Scholar and Arch Daily. The findings from the data are then summarized in a table to give a quick summary. It results that algorithmic design has impacts on energy efficiency and plays a significant role in shaping and producing innovative architectural structures. The integration of algorithmic design in the building design process has assisted in the optimization of building form, design of responsive façade systems, and material optimization for energy efficiency.
