The poster presents part of the results of a survey, which was conducted by the team "Educational and enlightenment work" of project "Plovdiv – from multilingual and multicultural center of Eastern Rumelia to European Capital of Culture".The particularities of the language situation in Plovdiv is presented by E. Petrova in Plovdiv - language diversity. The questionnaire in electronic format is completed anonymously and voluntarily by teachers of different disciplines in Plovdiv schools. We will present only the questions aimed at exploring modern educational practices for intercultural interaction in Plovdiv in connection with its election as European Capital of Culture in 2019. The first group of questions, the results of which we present, have a structured answer on three levels – Yes, No, I don’t know. A higher percentage of the teachers (see poster) have no information about how familiar the students they work with are with the European Capital of Culture initiative. Another group of questions focuses on exploring what the attitudes are to introducing students to traditions and customs outside the cultural community to which they belong and what resources are most often used to develop intercultural competences. From the responses, it becomes clear that the European Capital of Culture initiative was not dominant in the practices of the teachers surveyed, but they are deliberately working to develop the intercultural competence of the students. The authors expresses sincere gratitude to the Scientific Research Fund at the Ministry of Education and Science and the "Scientific and Project Activity" Division at Plovdiv University "Paisiy Hilendarski" for the assistance provided.
