            Abstract

During the post-dictatorial era (1990-1998) Chile was considered an example of economic growth, democratic transition and social improvements. During these years GDP grew by 81%, GDP per capita by 60% and the poverty rate fell from 25.7% to 16.1%. However, inequality rates remained among the highest in the region, so the effects of regressive measures implemented during the dictatorship (1973-1989) remained in democracy. This line of research analyses the evolution of inequality in different aspects of well-being (health, education, housing, work and income), during the so-called "golden period of the Chilean economy".
