            Abstract

Recently, new procedural techniques,TIPS stent technology, and indications for TIPS have emerged. As a result, practices and outcomes vary greatly across institutions and significant knowledge gaps exist.¹ Trans Jugular Intra Hepatic Portosystemic Shunting is a complex endovascular procedure performed to reduce portal venous hypertension but to date, a viable hands-on model to train resident physicians to perform the procedure has not been available or practical outside the confines of an animal model. We attempt to create an effective non- animal model for use in portal venous system access training.
