            Abstract

This paper reports on a survey of turtles in the Dibru-Saikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary in the eastern region of Assam, India. During the survey, evidence of several species of turtles was recorded, including range extensions and new locality records. The survey also included observations on the habitat and behaviour of the turtles. The main species recorded were the Malayan Box Turtle, the Asian Leaf Turtle, the Spotted Pond Turtle, the Brown Roofed Turtle, and the Indian Peacock Softshell Turtle. The authoralso discusses the conservation status of these species in the region and the threats they face.
