The study focuses on the wetland birds of the Anser genus, with particular attention to the Bar-headed goose (Anser indicus) in the Indian subcontinent. The presence and distribution of various goose species are detailed, with rare vagrants mentioned. The Bar-headed goose is explored in detail, including its breeding and wintering grounds, along with its food preferences and migratory patterns. The research area covers the wetlands of southeast Rajasthan, where observations were carried out for five years. The decline in Bar-headed goose populations in Rajasthan is highlighted, attributed to hunting and pesticide poisoning. Conservation measures are suggested, including awareness programs, legal regulations, and improved wetland management to safeguard the species. The need for urgent conservation efforts to protect the Bar-headed goose's population is emphasized.
