This paper presents an overview of the Bar-headed Goose (Anser indicus) and its status in different regions, focusing on its presence in North East India like in Assamas well as in areas like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Bhutan. The species is a common winter visitor to Assam, specifically in wetlands, rivers, and marshes. Notably, Kaziranga National Park is a significant wintering ground for these geese. The paper discusses the bird's distribution, migration patterns, and habitats, highlighting its decline due to habitat loss, pollution, and poaching. Conservation efforts and the need for further protective measures are addressed, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding wetland habitats and curbing poaching activities.
