Birds are extensively studied, particularly in Indian cities where they thrive due to abundant food from garbage dumps, ample nesting sites in planted trees, and the traditional goodwill towards all living beings. Pune, a city in India, supports over 330 bird species. Earlier works by various researchers have contributed to the understanding of Pune's bird fauna. The city and its surroundings host six major habitat types, with a majority of bird species residing in the wilderness zones. Changes in the bird fauna have been observed, including declines in some species due to factors such as urbanization and environmental changes. Monitoring and conservation efforts are essential to protect the diverse avifauna in urban areas.
