Sustainability economics is a holistic approach to economics that considers the impact of human activities on the natural world and aims to balance human well-being with the well-being of other life forms and the environment. The conventional economic model, which is focused on production, consumption, and allocation, is not sustainable because it assumes unlimited and free access to natural resources, which has led to overconsumption and environmental degradation. Sustainability economics recognizes the importance of managing the cycle of material and energy use and the limitations of natural resources and waste absorption. It views the human economy as a subset of the larger natural economy and prioritizes people and other life forms over goods. This approach requires rethinking traditional investments to prioritize need over return, and designing communities with people's needs in mind.
