The education system in India needs to focus on environment, ecology, and culture and shift away from a British-imposed model. The curriculum should include the impact of technology on the environment and promote a more holistic approach. Graduate and postgraduate education is currently dominated by science and technology but there are opportunities for alternative livelihoods in biomass-related technology. The education system needs to change to provide instruction in these fields and promote the restoration of nature, which will benefit the environment and improve quality of life.
