Is USA Thinking Seriously About Environment?

            Abstract

The author, after two years in the US, feels that the country is not taking the issue of environmental degradation seriously. Despite the recession, waste generation habits have not changed and there is no significant shift in resource-intensive behavior. The government is still promoting consumption and the national system of accounting does not account for the depletion of natural resources. The author feels that either the US does not understand the gravity of the situation or is unwilling to change its lifestyle.
