Johanssen Obanda is a Science Communicator and Social Innovator who works with AfricArXiv to build the organization's scholarly community in Africa; and with Jabulani Youths for Transformation to co-create social enterprises with young people in order to solve economic and environmental challenges in Kisumu, Kenya. He also works with Pint of Science Kenya to organize annual science communication events in different cities in Kenya. After spending nearly five years working in communication and strategy development, Johanssen knows what truly drives conversations and actions that lead to positive social impact. It is how well you connect with people you are trying to help and communicate your understanding back to them.
Johanssen has landed fellowships in entrepreneurship and leadership including YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa, Africa Future Leaders Fellowship, and Donors for Africa Fellowship. In addition to his extensive science communication and social innovation experience, Johanssen is a trained Biochemist from Egerton University.
