His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz the chairman of the Children with Disabilities Association (CDA) saw more than thirty years ago the dire need to close the gap the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia faces in the field of scientific research for issues that face disabilities which specialized in understanding, prevention, and rehabilitation.

The idea was carried out and sponsored by the humanitarian The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz the founder of King Salman Center for Disability Research until the center was launched, The Ministry of Social Affairs approved its establishment on 24/01/1412H, to be the building block of his Majesty which covers all area that serves all branches of society, and particularly individuals with disabilities, which led to the great care, and continuous support of his Majesty till it became one the few centers which deal with scientific research specializing in issues for disability in the Arab and Islamic World.

The Center is based on establishing the best scientific applications on a well-documented database, preparing scientific programs that aim to address disability, identify its causes, early detection, and intervention, and using the results of research, and its outputs for planning and evaluation in various fields of prevention, care, and rehabilitation, and working to alleviate the suffering of disability and improve the conditions of individuals with disabilities to become a productive workforce.
