            Abstract

The international conference on Evaluation and Assessment in Software Engineering (EASE) provides a forum for empirical researchers to present their latest research, as well as to discuss issues related to evaluation and empirical studies.

This year the conference includes papers on a diverse selection of topics including estimation bias, reusable architectural information, trust in outsourcing, software modernization decisions; and many different empirical techniques including simulation, systematic review, formal experiments, and industry surveys.

We also have a display of invited posters on evaluation and assessment topics.

This year we are fortunate to have Dag Sjøberg and Andrew Booth as our keynote speakers. Dag is the research director of the Department of Software Engineering at the Simula Laboratory in Norway.

He describes the novel approach to empirical studies taken at the Simula Laboratory. Andrew discusses evidence-based practice in health care.
