          Abstract

          Este artículo presenta la jerarquización de los factores y subfactores críticos que afectan la implantación de un programa de buenas prácticas agrícolas (BPA) para pequeños productores de café y frutas que realizan su labor productiva en el departamento del Huila en Colombia; se utilizó la metodología del Proceso Analítico Jerárquico con dos grupos decisores; se encontró que la mayor barrera para implantar un programa de BPA es la necesidad de inversión en infraestructura con una importancia relativa del 2i,8%, soportada por el subfactor crítico "altos costos de inversión", con una importancia relativa del i0,7%, lo cual es sin duda indicativo del nivel de rezago de los denominados pequeños productores.

          Cet article présente l'hiérarchisation des facteurs et sous-facteurs critiques qui affectent l'implantation d'un programme de bonnes pratiques agricoles (BPA) pour les petits producteurs de café et de fruits qui font le travail productif au département d'Huila en Colombie ; il a été utilisé la méthodologie du Processus Hiérarchique Analytique avec deux groupes décideurs ; il a été trouvé que le plus grand obstacle pour implémenter un programme de BPA est la nécessité d'inversion en infrastructure avec une importance relative de 21.8%, appuyée sur le sous-facteur critique des « hauts coûts d'inversion », avec une importance relative de 10.7%, ce qui est sans doute indicatif du niveau de retard des petits producteurs déjà mentionnés.

          Translated abstract

          This paper offers a prioritisation of primary and secondary factors that critically affect the implementation of a programme of good agricultural practices (GAP) among small fruit and coffee producers working in the department of Huila in Colombia. The paper uses the methodology of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with two decision-making groups; it reveals that the main obstacle in implementing a GAP programme is the lack of necessary investments in infrastructure with a relative importance of 21.8%, supported by the secondary critical factor 'high costs in investment', with a relative importance of 10.7% - which is without a doubt indicative of how far behind small producers are.

            An analytical hierarchy process assessment of the ISO 14001 environmental management system

            Nowadays, designing and manufacturing of environmental friendly products has become an integral part of business strategy. Increasing consciousness of environmental protection has fostered the development of environmental management systems (EMS). In this paper, the critical decision criteria, sub‐criteria and benefits of ISO 14001 EMS were studied using an analytical hierarchy process (AHP) approach. An empirical study was performed to investigate the relative weights and priorities of these criteria and benefits. An AHP decision model of EMS adoption was established, and a set of decision criteria, sub‐criteria and benefits of ISO 14001 EMS was examined. By consolidating the acquired judgements of executives and consultants from a number of ISO 14001 registered organizations, this paper demonstrates that the AHP decision model can be developed to help organizations study the ISO 14001 EMS adoption problem. The decision criteria and benefits of the adoption can be assessed in an analytical way.
