          Abstract

          Este artigo é uma análise do aspecto narrativo e compreensivo do tema educação na obra de Hannah Arendt, em especial no ensaio "A crise na educação", com a finalidade de aprofundar o enraizamento do texto no conjunto da obra da autora. Ele inicia demonstrando que o ensaio referido constitui-se como exercício de pensamento político. Depois, passa à análise da categoria de compreensão, demonstrando que Arendt não pensa com respaldo da tradição, por essa ter sido demolida pelas rupturas modernas, cujo caso extremo foi o surgimento dos governos totalitários, constituindo-se, assim, um pensamento sem amparos. Demonstra-se que "compreensão" é um importante conceito hermenêutico e epistemológico, na medida em que dimensiona o impulso fenomenológico da autora, que ao mesmo tempo assume a perspectiva pessoal de sua obra e aponta para a necessidade de o pensamento permanecer ligado aos problemas de ordem factual. Após, verifica-se o componente narrativo presente em toda a obra e, em particular, o aspecto narrativo dos escritos educacionais.

          Translated abstract

          In this article, we analyze the narrative and understanding aspects on the theme of education in the work of Hannah Arendt, particularly in the essay "The crisis in education", aiming at a comprehensive rooting of the text throughout the author's production. We begin by showing that this essay is an exercise of political thought. Then we move on to the analysis of the category of understanding, demonstrating that Arendt did not think supported on tradition, because it has been dismantled by modern ruptures, whose extreme case was the emergence of totalitarian governments, becoming thus a thought without supporters. We demonstrate that "understanding" is an important hermeneutic and epistemological concept, to the extent that it dimensions the author's phenomenological impulse, which at the same time takes the personal perspective of the author's work and points to the need for the thought to remain linked to factual problems. After that, we verify the narrative as a component present in all Hannah Arendt's work, particularly the narrative aspect of the educational writings.
