          Abstract

          Abstract This research aims to evaluate the effect of three protein levels (15.0, 16.5, and 18.0%) and three sulfur amino acid levels (0.71, 0.78, and 0.86%) on hens’ production efficiency and egg quality. It used Hy-Line Brown layers (n = 216) at 25 weeks of age. The nine treatments were distributed in a completely randomized design with a 3 x 3 factorial pattern. The experiment lasted 12 weeks. The best egg production was reported by hens fed 18.0% protein, while the best egg weight value was obtained with 15.0% protein. The highest weight gain was achieved with diets containing 16.5% protein. Except for weight gain, there were no significant effects (p > 0.05) of methionine + cystine levels on the factors studied, obtaining the most significant weight gain with a methionine + cystine level of 0.86%. The highest returns were attained with protein and sulfur amino acid levels of 16.5 and 0.71% or 15.00 and 0.86%, respectively.

          Resumen El objetivo de la presente investigación fue evaluar el efecto de tres niveles de proteína (15,0%, 16,5% y 18,0%) y tres niveles de aminoácidos azufrados (0,71%, 0,78%, 0,86%) sobre el comportamiento productivo y calidad de los huevos en gallinas. Se emplearon 216 gallinas de postura de la línea Hy-Line Brown de 25 semanas de edad, en la que los nueve tratamientos fueron distribuidos en un diseño completamente al azar con un arreglo factorial de 3 × 3, con una duración del experimento de 12 semanas. La mayor producción de huevos fue registrada en las aves alimentadas con 18,0% de proteína bruta (PB), mientras que el mayor peso de huevo fue obtenido con 15,0% de PB. La mayor ganancia de peso se obtuvo con las dietas que contenían 16,5% de PB. A excepción de la ganancia de peso, no se observaron efectos significativos (p > 0,05) de los niveles de metionina + cistina sobre los factores estudiados, donde la mayor ganancia de peso se obtuvo con el nivel de metionina + cistina de 0,86%. Las mayores retribuciones económicas se obtuvieron con los niveles de proteína y aminoácidos azufrados de 16,50% y 0,71% o 15,00% y 0,86%, respectivamente.

            The effect of dietary protein level and total sulfur amino acid:lysine ratio on egg production parameters and egg yield in Hy-Line W-98 hens.

            A 3 x 3 treatment arrangement varying in dietary protein and TSAA:Lys was used to evaluate the effect of low-protein diets fed to Hy-Line W-98 laying hens. Phase I was 20 to 43 wk of age with 18.9, 17.0, and 14.4 g of protein/hen per day and 0.97, 0.85, and 0.82 TSAA:Lys, whereas phase II was 44 to 63 wk of age with 16.3, 14.6, and 13.8 g of protein/hen per day and 0.92, 0.82, and 0.72 TSAA:Lys. Egg production and feed consumption decreased from 83.7 to 82.2% and 98.8 to 95.6 g, respectively. Feed efficiency improved from 1.680 to 1.645 g of feed/g of egg mass with decreasing dietary protein. Body weight gain was similar for hens fed high or medium protein diets. In phase II, hens consuming 13.8 g of protein/day had significantly reduced egg weight compared with hens consuming 14.6 or 16.3 g of protein/day. Wet and dry albumen percentage, albumen solids, and albumen and yolk protein percentages were significantly decreased with feeding low-protein diets. Yolk protein percentage was increased from 14.85 to 15.11% when decreasing the ratio from 0.97 to 0.82. Hens consuming a low-protein diet produced eggs with the lowest specific gravity. An interaction was observed for protein retention during phase I, feeding 14.4 g of protein/day or a ratio of 0.97 improved protein retention by 9 and 16%, respectively. Overall, hens consuming 16.3 or 14.6 g of protein/hen per day performed similar to hens consuming 18.9 and 17.0 g of protein/hen per day during P1 and P2, respectively. Also, hens consuming diets containing 0.97 and 0.92 TSAA:Lys produced eggs with improved shell quality as compared with other ratios during P1 and P2, respectively.

              Níveis de proteína bruta e de aminoácidos sulfurados totais sobre o desempenho, a qualidade dos ovos e a excreção de nitrogênio de poedeiras de ovos marrons

              O experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de maximizar a produção e a qualidade dos ovos e minimizar a excreção de nitrogênio nas excretas de poedeiras no final do primeiro ciclo de produção, por meio do fornecimento de aporte adequado de proteína bruta (PB) e aminoácidos sulfurados totais (AAST) na dieta. Foram utilizadas 432 poedeiras Isa Brown, com 52 semanas de idade, distribuídas em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 3 x 3 (PB e AAST) e nove tratamentos (14 e 0,57; 14 e 0,64; 14 e 0,71; 15,5 e 0,57; 15,5 e 0,64; 15,5 e 0,71; 17 e 0,57; 17 e 0,64; 17 e 0,71 % de PB e AAST, respectivamente), com seis repetições de oito aves cada. A duração do experimento foi de 140 dias. Foram avaliadas as características de desempenho, qualidade dos ovos e excreção de nitrogênio nas excretas. A única característica de desempenho influenciada pelos tratamentos foi o peso dos ovos, que apresentou os maiores valores para as combinações de 15,5 e 0,71; 17 e 0,71; 15,5 e 0,64; 14 e 0,71 e 17 e 0,64% de PB e AAST, respectivamente. Não foram observadas diferenças significativas para consumo de ração, porcentagem de postura e de ovos quebrados, massa de ovos, conversão alimentar por dúzia e por massa de ovos e mortalidade. Para os parâmetros de qualidade dos ovos, foram observadas diferenças significativas apenas para as porcentagens de gema e de albúmem. A excreção de nitrogênio foi maior nas aves alimentadas com as rações contendo 17% de PB. Pode-se sugerir que a ração contendo 14% de PB e 0,57% de AAST pode ser utilizada, sem prejuízos no desempenho e na qualidade dos ovos, e ainda contribui para a redução da excreção de nitrogênio no ambiente e do custo da ração.
