Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar os principais fatores para as transformações socioeconômicas ocorridas na segunda metade do século XIX no Brasil. Esta pesquisa busca refletir as consequências do complexo cafeeiro na formação e consolidação do Estado brasileiro e da economia nacional. De fato, a economia cafeeira nacional impulsionou o mercado interno e ampliou as relações comerciais externas. Além disso, o tributo conferiu ao Estado a capacidade de ampliar o seu controle sobre a sociedade.

This paper talks about the main factors for the socioeconomic changes that occurred in Brazil during the second half of the 19th century. This research seeks to reflect the consequences of the coffee production in the formation and consolidation of the Brazilian State and the National Economy. In fact, the economy based on coffee production expanded the domestic and international market. In addition, the taxation gave to the Brazilian Government the ability to expand its control over society.
