          Abstract

          Translated abstract

Abstract: This article analyses the trend towards the feminization of the journalism profession in Portugal, identifying changes resulting from the greater female participation in newsrooms, but also some of the challenges that women still face. Despite the transformations that the media sector has undergone in recent decades, newsrooms remain governed by a masculine culture, whose imprints are intertwined with the values of the profession themselves. Attempting to decipher the maintenance of this power regime, the structuring role of routines, as well as the expression of gender neutrality manifested by the class, are observed.
