          Abstract

          A inovação sócio-territorial das cidades contemporâneas forja-se, em boa medida, nos seus espaços públicos. É sobretudo aí que se produzem os meios urbanos criativos. Este artigo debate a criatividade urbana ancorada no espaço público, quer enquanto recurso simbólico da identidade local, quer como lugar de encontro, de debate, de confronto de ideias e de práticas. A metáfora clássica da porta, que deverá estar sempre aberta para que seja permitida a comunicação e a interação, assume particular significado no quadro parisiense do bairro do Marais, onde o espaço público se apresenta efetivamente como a porta aberta, ou seja, como a essência do meio criativo que aí se desenvolveu. Propomos aqui uma leitura do Marais, que salienta a diversidade sociocultural e a tolerância enquanto fatores chave da produção de capital relacional e de dinamização local. Falamos das intensas relações de vizinhança, estimuladas pelas caraterísticas do espaço público, pelas atividades criativas que nele se desenvolvem e pelos modos de governança que o vão configurando. Mas, referimo-nos também ao importante papel das redes sociais virtuais no fortalecimento, reconhecimento e coesão da comunidade local

          Translated abstract

          The socio-territorial innovation of contemporary cities is forged, to a large extent, in its public spaces. It is mainly there that urban creative milieus are produced. This article discusses the urban creativity generated in urban public space, seen as symbolic resource of local identity as well as a place for meeting, debate, confrontation of ideas and practices. The classic metaphor of the door, which should always be open to allow communication and interaction, is of particular significance in the context of the Parisian Marais neighbourhood, where the public space actually seems to have the door opened, ie, to be the essence of creative milieus developed there. We propose a reading of Marais that emphasizes the sociocultural diversity and tolerance as key factors in the production of relational capital and local socioeconomic dynamics. We stress the intense neighbourly relationships, stimulated by the characteristics of public space, by the creative activities that take place in it and by the modes of governance configuring the neighbourhood. We further underline the important role of virtual social networks in empowerment, recognition and cohesion of the local community

          Dans les villes contemporaines l'innovation nait surtout dans les espaces publics. On considère celle-ci comme étant une source d'identité locale, dans la mesure où elle correspond à des lieux de rencontre, de débats, de confrontation d'idées et de pratiques. La métaphore classique selon laquelle il faut qu'une porte soit ouverte pour permettre la communication et l'interaction, s'applique particulièrement bien au quartier du Marais, où l'espace public constitue un milieu véritablement créatif. On propose une lecture de ce quartier qui met l'accent sur sa diversité socio-culturelle tolérante, laquelle y permet un développement dynamique des relations sociales, avec d'intenses relations de voisinage et le développement d'activité créatrices. On considère aussi les formes de gouvernance qui modèlent ce quartier et on montre l'importance des réseaux sociaux virtuels qui assurent le développement, la reconnaissance et la cohésion de la communauté locale
