          Abstract

Posterior fusion procedures (posterior lumbar interbody fusion, PLIF; transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion, TLIF) are long-established surgical techniques for lumbar interbody fusion. They differ from anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) and extreme lateral interbody fusion (XLIF) procedures by approach and associated complications.
