          Abstract

The affect of sun glint on the daytime mid infrared wavelengths of the MODerate-resolution Imaging Spectrometers (MODIS) data are explored. Differences of greater than 20C have been observed between the daytime thermal and mid infrared wavelengths sea surface temperature retrievals over the sun glint area. These differences can be attributed to daytime brightness temperature increases between the three bands in the MODIS mid infrared region over the sun glint area
