          Abstract

          Este artículo, derivado de investigación, busca contribuir al estudio de la intención del uso del e-learning por parte de estudiantes universitarios a través del uso del modelo de aceptación tecnológica. La metodología empleada se basa en una investigación cuantitativa exploratoria de carácter transversal y toma como instrumento metodológico el cuestionario auto-administrado aplicado a 100 estudiantes activos del programa de Administración Tecnológica del Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano de Medellín. Para el análisis de datos se cuantificaron los niveles de asociación entre los constructos del modelo de aceptación tecnológica mediante el coeficiente V de Cramer, los que se examinaron a partir de las tipologías de estudiantes encuestados. Entre los principales hallazgos se verificó la capacidad explicativa del modelo de aceptación tecnológica al encontrar asociaciones entre la utilidad percibida, la facilidad de uso, la actitud y la intención de uso del e-learning. Se concluye que el estudiantado encuestado tiene mayor preferencia por una modalidad de estudio presencial con un soporte académico en herramientas virtuales de aprendizaje y se observa una baja intención en cursar un pregrado en modalidad virtual. Se recomienda impulsar una mayor capacitación y acompañamiento en el uso de herramientas e-learning como complemento a los procesos educativos del programa de Administración Tecnológica.

          Translated abstract

          This article is derived from a research study and is aimed at contributing to the study of university students’ intentions to use e-learning by utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model. The methodology used is based on an exploratory quantitative transversal research and the methodological instrument is a self-administered questionnaire applied to 100 active students in the Technology Management Program from “Instituto Tecnológico Metropolitano” at Medellín. For the data analysis, the levels of association were quantified between the constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model using Cramer’s V coefficient, which were examined based on the typologies of surveyed students. Among the main findings, the explanatory capacity of the Technology Acceptance Model was verified by finding associations between perceived usefulness, ease of use, and student’s attitude and intention to use e-learning. It is concluded that surveyed students have greater preference for a classroom study with academic support on virtual learning tools and little intention to enroll in a virtual undergraduate program. More training and support in the use of e-learning tools is recommended to complement the educational processes of the Technology Management Program.
