          Abstract

A coronary artery fistula (CAF) is an abnormal vascular connection between the coronary arteries and the cardiac chambers or major vessels. Although rare, CAFs can lead to substantial coronary morbidity and mortality. This study outlines the surgical management of a CAF originating from the left coronary artery and connecting to the right atrium, in a patient experiencing angina with a marked left-to-right shunt. The surgical approach involved ligation of the coronary artery and reduction of the aneurysmal portion, resulting in the patient’s uneventful recovery.

          Coronary artery fistula.

Although coronary arterial fistula is rare, it is one of the most common among the coronary artery anomalies. Coronary arterial fistula most commonly affects the right side of the heart. It may occur isolated or along with congenital heart diseases. Angiography remains the best investigation for diagnosing the disease. Unless very large and hemodynamically significant, it is usually asymptomatic in younger patients. With increasing age, symptoms begin to appear, and the incidence of complication rises. Treatment by transcatheter or surgical closure gives the best results, provided this is performed early in the course of the disease. This review was prepared by searching the terms "coronary artery fistula," "coronary cameral fistula," "surgical management of coronary arterial fistula," "MDCT in coronary artery fistula," and "multiple coronary artery fistulae" in Google Scholar, PubMed, and PubMed Central and exploring the related articles shown on the side of page. Coronary arteriovenous fistulae: a review.

Coronary arteriovenous fistulae are a coronary anomaly, presenting in 0.002% of the general population. Their etiology can be congenital or acquired. We present a review of recent literature related to their epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, and therapeutic management.

              Coronary artery fistula: a review

Coronary arterial fistulas are abnormal connections between the coronary arteries and the chambers of the heart or major thoracic vessels. Although first described in 1841, the true incidence is difficult to evaluate because approximately half of the cases may be asymptomatic and clinically undetectable. This review will discuss the history and prevalence of coronary artery fistulas and their morphology, histology, presentation, diagnosis, treatment options, and complications.
