Abstract

Resumen: Los espectáculos deportivos surgidos en la primera mitad del siglo XX, tales como los campeonatos regulares de fútbol y otras competencias deportivas, representan el tránsito de estas prácticas hacia la cultura de masas en el contexto de las políticas de reforma emanadas desde el Estado. Asimismo, estos eventos fueron instancias cotidianas de la experiencia popular, que encarnan la figura del hincha y sus formas de participación, las que fueron criticadas y celebradas en distintos momentos por la prensa, incorporando una escucha de los regímenes sensoriales relacionados con la producción del ruido y el grito colectivo. Mediante una lectura de periódicos y revistas especializadas, este artículo propone subrayar la función del sonido y las sensaciones en la conformación de los espectáculos deportivos en la cultura de masas en Chile durante este periodo. Para ello, la propuesta busca analizar la espacialidad del estadio y los componentes del paisaje sonoro, comprendiendo los regímenes de sentido y participación que relacionan los cuerpos, el sonido y la cultura. Se concluye la necesidad de escuchar al hincha, así como las prácticas colectivas que vinculan el sonido al desborde emocional de las masas, en el contexto de las transformaciones políticas y estéticas a través del siglo pasado.

Abstract: The sporting events that emerged in the first half of the 20th century, such as regular soccer championships and other sports competitions, represent the transition of practices to mass culture in the context of reform policies emanating from the State. Likewise, these events were daily instances of the popular experience, embodying the figure of the fan and his forms of participation, which were criticized and celebrated at different times by the press, incorporating a listening of the sensory regimes related with production of noise and collective yelling. Through a reading of newspapers and specialized magazines, this article proposes to underline the function of sound and senses in the conformation of sporting events in mass culture in Chile during this period. For this, the proposal seeks to analyze the spatiality of the stadium and the components of the soundscape, understanding the regimes of meaning and participation that relate bodies, sounds and culture. The conclusion is the need to listen to the fan, as well as the collective practices that link sound to the emotional overflow of the masses, in the context of political and aesthetic transformations throughout the last century.
