Abstract

Resumen La resistencia de las levaduras a los agentes antifúngicos fue por muchos años un problema de poca importancia, pero recientemente se ha reportado un incremento en la resistencia a estas drogas, especialmente entre las especies de Candida no-albicans, las cuales, a su vez, aparecen con mayor frecuencia en pacientes con Candidosis Vulvovaginal Recurrente. Con el fin de establecer diferencias en la susceptibilidad a los antifúngicos de Candida albicans (serotipos A y B), C. no-albicans y entre los grupos de pacientes con Candidosis Vulvovaginal Primaria y Recurrente, se realizó un estudio con un grupo de cepas obtenidas de un trabajo previo sobre el tema, que además poseía un grupo control asintomático. Se obtuvieron resultados estadísticamente significativos en la respuesta al itraconazol y al fluconazol en las especies de C. no-albicans y en C. albicans, mostrando las primeras mayores porcentajes de resistencia. Los hallazgos para la susceptibilidad entre los distintos grupos de estudio y entre los serotipos de C. albicans no fueron estadísticamente significativos. Se sugiere que el cultivo, identificación y pruebas de susceptibilidad para las levaduras tienen importancia en el establecimiento de una terapia adecuada. Las pruebas de susceptibilidad in vitro demostraron estar adecuadamente estandarizadas. Summary The yeast resistance to the antifungical agents was for many years a low importance problem, but recently, it has been reported an increase of resistance to such drugs, specially between Candida no-albicans species, which appear with more frequency in Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidosis patients. In order to establish the differences in the susceptibility of Candida albicans (A and B serotypes), and between the Primary and Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidosis patient groups to the antifungicals, a study was done with a stock group obtained from a previous work about this matter, which one has additionally an asymptomatic control group. Statistically significant results were gotten in answer to itraconazol and fluconazol in C. no-albicans and C. albicans, showing the first higher percentages of resistance. The susceptibility between the different study groups and the C. albicans serotypes were not statistically significant. It is suggested that the culture, identification and susceptibility tests of the yeasts have a great importance in establishing an adequate therapy. The in vitro susceptibility tests showed to be standardize adequately. It is necessary to make studies with a higher quantity of isolations in each group with more precise data about the previous treatment
