Venezuela 21: Nueva variedad de arroz de riego

Abstract

Se evaluó el comportamiento agronómico de la variedad VENEZUELA 21 durante tres ciclos consecutivos en los ensayos ERU's del Servicio Nacional de Semilla (SENASEM) y en siembras comerciales, en las principales zonas de producción de arroz de Venezuela; dicho material se caracteriza por presentar excelente potencial de rendimiento en grano paddy (superior 7,5 t ha-1) resistente a plagas (piricularia) y excelente calidad de grano (grano entero superior al 60% y amilosa superior al 30%). En virtud de lo anterior se solicitó la elegibilidad de la variedad VENEZUELA 21 para la producción y comercialización de semilla certificada en el país.

Translated abstract

The agronomic behavior of the cultivar "VENEZUELA 21", was evaluated during three consecutive cycles in the Test URT's and commercial sowing in the principal rice production zones of Venezuela. It is characterized by presenting excellent potencial yield in paddy grain (superior 7,5 t ha-1) in both cycles, wint tolerance to pest (piricularia) and excellent grain quality (entire grain superior to 60% and amylose superior to 30%). For all this reasons the elegibility of the variety "VENEZUELA 21" was request, for the production and commerciazation of certified seed in the country.
