      Comparison of the Iranian and Scandinavian bachelor of nursing curriculum (Sweden): A scoping review

          Abstract

          BACKGROUND:

          The comparison of the educational curriculum improves the content and quality of the curriculum and needs to be revised and modified in line with the current needs of society. Development of nursing knowledge, the emergence of emerging diseases requires that the nursing curriculum be codified and provide the necessary skills to provide quality and safe care.

          MATERIALS AND METHODS:

          The study aimed to Comparison of Iranian and Scandinavian Bachelor of Nursing Curriculum (Sweden). This descriptive–comparative study was conducted based on the Bereday model in four stages: Description, Interpretation, Juxtaposition, Comparison, and Analysis in 2022. We use relevant electronic databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Iran Medex, SID, Magiran, Google Scholar, Iran Doc, and Science Direct databases.

          RESULTS:

          The results showed that despite the similarities, the Swedish nursing curriculum had special features in most of the mentioned dimensions. Including decentralized admission, Fits the need, competency-based curriculum, attention to holistic care and intercultural care, use of new digital technologies in education, and clinical training and evaluation.

          CONCLUSION:

          It seems that the Iranian nursing curriculum is far from the mentioned perspective. Using the experiences of the world's top universities, such as Sweden, can improve the quality of nursing undergraduate programs and improve the nursing profession by eliminating current shortcomings.

          Nordic Health Registry-Based Research: A Review of Health Care Systems and Key Registries

          The Nordic countries are Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden and comprise a total population of approximately 27 million. The countries provide unique opportunities for joint health registry-based research in large populations with long and complete follow-up, facilitated by shared features, such as the tax-funded and public health care systems, the similar population-based registries, and the personal identity number as unique identifier of all citizens. In this review, we provide an introduction to the health care systems, key registries, and how to navigate the practical and ethical aspects of setting up such studies. For each country, we provide an overview of population statistics and health care expenditures, and describe the operational and administrative organization of the health care system. The Nordic registries provide population-based, routine, and prospective data on individuals lives and health with virtually complete follow-up and exact censoring information. We briefly describe the total population registries, birth registries, patient registries, cancer registries, prescription registries, and causes of death registries with a focus on period of coverage, selected key variables, and potential limitations. Lastly, we discuss some practical and legal perspectives. The potential of joint research is not fully exploited, mainly due to legal and practical difficulties in, for example, cross-border sharing of data. Future tasks include clear and transparent legal pathways and a framework by which practical aspects are facilitated.

              Hospitals preparedness using WHO guideline: A systematic review and meta-analysis

              Background: Hospitals play a critical role in providing communities with essential medical care during disasters. Objectives: In this article, the key components and recommended actions of WHO (World Health Organization) Hospital emergency response checklist have been considered to identify current practices in disaster/emergency hospital preparedness in actual or potential incidents. Methods: Articles were obtained through bibliographic databases, including ISI Web of Science, PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Google Scholar, and SID: Scientific information database. Keywords were “Disaster,” “Preparedness,” “Emergency Preparedness,” “Disaster Planning,” “Mass Casualty Incidents,” “Hospital Emergency Preparedness,” “Health Emergency Preparedness,” “Preparedness Response,” and “Emergency Readiness.” Independent reviewers (F.R. and M.H.Y.) screened abstracts and titles for eligibility. STROBE (STrengthening the Reporting of OBservational studies in Epidemiology) checklist was used to qualifying the studies for this review. Results: Of 1545 identified studies, 26 articles were implied inclusion criteria. They accounted for nine key components and 92 recommended actions. The majority of principles that had been rigorously recommended at any level of the hospital emergency preparedness were command and control and post-disaster recovery. Surge capacity was considered less frequently. Conclusion: We recommend considering the proposed disaster categories by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). In this framework, different weights for nine components can be considered based on disaster categories. Thus, a more valid and reliable preparedness checklist could be developed.
