            Abstract

This study concerns the movement of international capital by British American Tobacco (BAT) into the Oyo North division of Oyo State, Nigeria, and investigates the control by the company over the farmers; that this control stops short of full proletarianisation nor does Ulead to a clear pattern of stratification along class lines.
