Lime has been used for ages, whereas cement got popular only after the industrial revolution and has played a major role in the speed of construction. The present work is focused on investigating & quantifying the heat and moisture transfer through two walls, one made of lime mortar and the other with cement mortar, with a layer of plaster of the same materials. The study will monitor the temperatures, relative humidity, and surface temperatures inside two identical cubes of 1 cubic meter volume with one material each. The analysis of hygrothermal properties of materials, will help in understanding the reduction of indoor temperature, energy reduction for humidification or dehumidification, and thermal lag & overall building heating & cooling energy consumption.
